v1.7.3

Latest
#

Echo Show now lets you scale recipe servings while you cook, and Kitchen Mode finally has a Personal/Household toggle.

✨ New

  • Adjust servings on the Echo Show while you cook

Tap the plus and minus buttons next to SERVES on any recipe screen on Alexa to scale ingredient amounts up or down. The ingredients panel during cook mode follows the same number, and switching to a different recipe resets it.

⚡ Improved

  • Discover empty state actually points you somewhere

When the trending feed is empty for the time window you picked (most often This Week before recipes have piled up), the screen now offers one-tap shortcuts to This Month, All Time, or Recently Added so you never hit a blank dead end.

🐛 Fixed

  • Personal vs household toggle on Kitchen Mode

Kitchen Mode now has a Personal/Household pill in the top bar so you can flip between your private pantry and the shared household pantry from a tablet or fridge-side display, without going back to the main app first.

  • Discover This Week tab no longer hides Recently Added

When the trending feed is quiet inside a window (most often This Week), the Discover page now still shows Recently Added and Seasonal picks above a small in-place note - no more landing on a blank screen the moment you open Discover.

v1.7.0

#

Household members now share one pantry - add, edit, and restock together with a record of who added what.

✨ New

  • Household members now share one pantry

Switching to your household now shows a shared pantry everyone can see, add to, and use. Each item shows who added it, and it plays nicely with Running low / Out and the Add to Shopping List buttons just like your personal pantry. Your personal pantry stays private.

v1.6.4

#

Household members can now import anyone\u2019s checked shopping list items into their pantry, and the web shopping list keeps your screen awake while you shop.

⚡ Improved

  • Web shopping list keeps the screen on while you shop

Opening the shopping list on the web app now keeps your phone or tablet awake the same way the mobile app and Kitchen Mode already did - no more re-tapping to wake the screen in every grocery aisle.

🐛 Fixed

  • Household shopping list -> pantry import works for everyone now

In household mode, tapping From shopping list on the pantry screen now pulls in every item that has been checked off on the shared list, not just the ones you personally added.

v1.6.3

#

Discover now lets you switch the trending feed between This Week, This Month, and All Time.

✨ New

  • Pick the time window on Discover trending

The Discover tab now lets you switch the trending feed between This Week, This Month, and All Time. We remember the last one you picked.

v1.6.2

#

Deleting a recipe now asks whether to remove the matching copy from your household too, plus Pinterest imports work again.

✨ New

  • Send Low and Out pantry items straight to your shopping list

Tap the little cart on any Low or Out pantry item to add it to your shopping list, or tap the new Restock button at the top to review everything that needs replacing and send the whole list over in one go. Works on the web app, Kitchen Mode, and your phone.

⚡ Improved

  • Deleting a recipe now offers to clean up the copy in your household too

If a recipe also lives in your household (or vice versa), deleting it now asks whether to remove both copies at once or just the one you were looking at - so you stop finding half-removed recipes floating around.

  • Clearer message when Pinterest imports get rate-limited

If Pinterest is temporarily throttling recipe imports, you will now see a plain "please wait a minute and try again" message instead of a vague AI error. Retrying the same pin is also much faster.

🐛 Fixed

  • Pinterest recipe imports work again

Importing recipes from Pinterest pin links had stopped working recently. Any pin that links to a real recipe page should now import cleanly.

v1.5.7

#

Cook mode now respects your adjusted serving size, and Alexa stays with you through long cooking steps with new pause and resume support.

⚡ Improved

  • Sharper recipe photos on Discover

Discover, trending, seasonal picks, and Recently Added now show the cropped version of each recipe photo, matching how it appears in your own collection.

  • Alexa Kitchen stays with you through long cooking steps

Alexa no longer closes the skill while you wait for something to simmer or bake, and you can now say pause and resume to step away and come back. Ingredient screens show the recipe’s serving size.

🐛 Fixed

  • Photo and crop changes now sync everywhere automatically

When you update a recipe photo or adjust its crop, the change now applies to your household copy and any other linked copies instantly - no more confirmation popup.

  • Cook mode now uses your adjusted serving count

If you scale a recipe up or down before tapping Start Cooking, the cook mode ingredients panel now shows the right amounts. Works on the web app, Kitchen Mode, and the phone app.

v1.5.4

#

Smoother mobile editing, stoppable timers, and Kitchen Mode moves to Premium.

✨ New

  • Alexa skill is live

Say "Alexa, open Forkato Kitchen" on any Echo Show to hear your meal plan, browse recipes, and cook step by step with voice commands. Free with your Forkato account.

  • Import recipes from Pinterest

Paste a Pinterest pin link and Forkato automatically follows it to the original recipe source, then imports the full recipe with ingredients and steps.

  • Sign in with Google on the web

You can now sign in or create an account using your Google account on the web, just like the mobile app. One tap, no password needed.

⚡ Improved

  • Smoother editing on mobile

The keyboard no longer covers recipe steps when editing. Steps scroll into view automatically as you type.

  • Recipe step timers now stoppable

Tap a running timer in any recipe step to stop and reset it. No more waiting for it to count down to zero.

  • Kitchen Mode is now a Premium feature

The dedicated tablet and display cooking interface is now part of Premium. Free users see an upgrade prompt with a preview of what Kitchen Mode offers.

  • Premium status visible everywhere

Premium members now see a gold star badge on their avatar and a status card on their profile. Free users see their import count and a clear upgrade path.

  • Household sharing requires Premium

Creating or joining a household now requires Premium. Existing household members are not affected.

  • Clearer button labels

The "Add to list" button on recipe pages is now "Add Ingredients" so it is obvious what it does.

  • Show/hide password toggle

All password fields now have an eye icon to reveal or hide what you typed. Works on login, registration, and password reset on both web and mobile.

🐛 Fixed

  • Household members can add ingredients to the shared shopping list

Previously, tapping Add Ingredients on a recipe imported by another household member would fail silently. Now any household member can add ingredients from any shared recipe.

v1.4.6

#

Kitchen Mode for tablets, TheMealDB recipe discovery, household recipe sharing, and smarter ingredient search.

✨ New

  • Kitchen Mode

A full-screen, touch-friendly interface at forkato.com/kitchen designed for tablets and mounted kitchen displays. See your next meal, browse recipes, check your meal plan, and cook hands-free with giant step-by-step text.

  • Discover new recipes from TheMealDB

The Discover page now shows a "Discover something new" section with random recipe picks you can preview and save to your collection in one tap.

  • Recipe preview before saving

Tap any TheMealDB recipe to see a full preview with photo, ingredients, and steps before deciding to save it. No more blind imports.

  • Multi-ingredient search on What Can I Make

The Discover New tab on What Can I Make now searches by all your ingredients at once, not just the first one. Results match meals that use everything you have on hand.

  • Dietary preference filtering

Set your dietary preferences (vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian) and recipe suggestions on Discover and What Can I Make automatically filter out meals that conflict.

  • Custom recipe collections

Create your own collections with custom names and emoji icons to organize recipes however you like. Household collections are shared with everyone in your house.

  • Custom dietary restrictions

Add your own dietary restrictions beyond the built-in options. Custom restrictions filter out conflicting recipes from discovery results, just like the presets.

  • Custom cuisine preferences

Add custom cuisine types to your preferences. Matching recipes get a "Matches your taste" highlight in discovery results.

  • Voice commands in Kitchen Mode

Tap the microphone button while cooking to control Kitchen Mode with your voice. Say "next step", "start timer", "read step", or "show ingredients" hands-free.

  • AI voice reads your recipe steps aloud

Premium members can now toggle "Read Aloud" in Kitchen Mode cook mode. A natural-sounding AI voice reads each step as you navigate, with six voices to choose from. Hands-free cooking at its best.

  • AI voice read aloud in the main app

The same natural AI voice from Kitchen Mode now works in the regular web and mobile cook modes. Toggle it on, pick a voice, and cook hands-free on any device.

⚡ Improved

  • Household members can view shared recipes

Everyone in your household can now open, view, and cook any recipe in the shared collection - not just the person who imported it.

  • Fractions display correctly on ingredients

Ingredient quantities like 0.5 now display as clean fractions (1/2, 1/4, 3/4) everywhere - recipe detail, cook mode, and preview modals.

  • TheMealDB recipes import with proper measurements

Recipes saved from TheMealDB now have properly separated quantities and units instead of raw text, so scaling and cook mode work correctly.

  • Photos from external recipes save locally

Recipe photos from TheMealDB and other external sources are now downloaded and stored locally, so photo cropping and sharing work the same as any other recipe.

  • Kitchen Mode cook timers

Time mentions in recipe steps now show a tappable timer button. Timers count down with large visible digits and play an audio chime when done - even while navigating between steps.

  • Kitchen Mode step navigation

Cook mode now shows numbered step indicators you can tap to jump to any step. Completed steps show a checkmark, and the current step is highlighted.

  • Kitchen Mode ingredient checklist

The ingredients panel in cook mode now has checkboxes so you can mark off ingredients as you gather them before starting.

  • Kitchen Mode expanded navigation

Kitchen Mode now includes Discover, Pantry, and What Can I Make tabs - access your full recipe toolkit without leaving the touch-optimized interface.

  • Kitchen Mode meal plan adds recipes directly

Tapping an empty meal plan slot now opens a recipe picker that adds the recipe immediately instead of just viewing it.

  • Kitchen Mode Discover page

The Discover tab in Kitchen Mode now shows three full sections: community recipes with source badges, TheMealDB random picks with a refresh button, and trending recipes this week - all in a touch-friendly card grid.

🐛 Fixed

  • Recipe image removal now saves correctly

Removing a recipe photo in the edit screen and saving no longer brings the old image back.

  • Egg quantities no longer show as NaN

Fixed an issue where fractional egg amounts (like half an egg) displayed as NaN instead of the correct fraction.

v1.3.0

#

Cook mode gets an Up Next preview, cleaner fraction display when scaling, and cleaner Discover links.

✨ New

  • Preview what is next while cooking

Toggle on Up Next in cook mode to see the next step below the current one. Ingredient mentions are highlighted so you can start prepping.

⚡ Improved

  • Cleaner ingredient amounts

Measurements no longer round up. Common fractions (1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 2/3, 3/4, 1/8) show as proper glyphs when you scale servings up or down.

  • Discover links use share tokens

Community recipe links use short random tokens instead of sequential IDs. Old links still work and redirect to the new URL.

🐛 Fixed

  • Stale In Your Collection badge

Community recipes no longer show In Your Collection after you have deleted the saved copy.

v1.2.0

#

Quick Meals on the planner, better slot menus, keep-awake while shopping, and a bunch of small fixes.

✨ New

  • Quick Meal on the planner

Plan something you are not using a saved recipe for - Steak, Leftovers, Takeout - with optional macros and a short ingredient list that rolls into your shopping list and daily nutrition.

  • Better menu when you tap a planned meal

Tap a meal on your plan to view the recipe, add another to the same slot, replace it, or remove it - same menu on web and mobile.

  • Keep your phone awake while grocery shopping

The shopping list screen on mobile now stays awake so your phone does not lock mid-aisle.

  • What is new on the web

You can now open the changelog right from the user menu on the web - no need to jump to mobile to see what shipped.

⚡ Improved

  • What Can I Make finds more matches

Searching by ingredient now shows any recipe that shares at least one ingredient, sorted by best match - the same way Discover already worked. Less strict, more useful.

  • Landing page always dark

The homepage stays dark regardless of your app theme preference - cleaner handoff for signed-out visitors.

🐛 Fixed

  • Remove button in What Can I Make

Clicking remove next to an ingredient now actually removes it.

  • Export on mobile

Recipe export on the mobile app no longer fails with a sign-in error.

v1.1.0

#

Long-press actions, shopping-list memory, meal planner polish, and photo sync between personal and household.

✨ New

  • Long-press shopping list items

Hold any item on your shopping list to pick, edit, or delete it without hunting for a menu.

  • Previous items on the shopping list

The shopping list now remembers everything you buy. One tap adds frequent groceries back to the list so you don't have to type them every week.

  • Tap a meal to replace it

On the meal planner, tap any planned meal to swap it with a different recipe. Long-press for a menu with more options.

  • Contact us from the app

Send us a note without leaving the app - find it under Profile. Previously only on the website.

  • Recipe photo sync between you and your household

When you re-crop a recipe photo, Forkato offers to update the matching copy in your household (or your personal copy) so the two never drift apart.

  • Pantry shortcut on the Recipes home

Open your pantry with one tap, right next to Collections and What Can I Make.

🐛 Fixed

  • Fixed duplicate recipes on the Discover page

The featured recipe at the top no longer appears again in the list below it.

  • Fixed meal planner not saving to your household

When you were in household mode, new meals sometimes saved to your personal plan instead. Now they stay in the household plan, as expected.

  • Fixed contact form submissions

Messages from the contact form weren't always getting through. They are now.
